　Recently,　it is thought that an ecological business based on advanced technology is significant to make a our sustainable society.
As a part of business model of “ Hokkaido Enviroment Bio Sector”, we are promoting the disposition of fishery waste like a starfish using fermentation technology by “Lib land yeast” and recycling usage of the extracts obtained after the fermentation.
There are some reports that starfishes produce marine saponins such as asterosaponin which showed antifungal ,anticancer and/or insect avoidance activities (Kicha, A, et al., Chemistry & Biodiversity, 8:166, 2011, etc). Furthermore, one of characteristic of saponin is known to absorb ultraviolet light.
Indeed, we also confirmed the strong UV absorption of the extract from starfish fermentation.
Then, why does "By Crow (SARABA KARASU-Kun)" show the evasion against crow and other birds ? The answer is not clear, but we speculate that cone cells (retinal pigment cells) of the bird's eye are usually 4 types (mammals have the 3 cone cells), so the birds are able to see UV as a color through oil balls identified 4 type colors, red, yellow, blue and green as filters in corn cells, and crow and other birds may fall panic because of distortion of their optic image by the "By Crow"s UV absorption. Although various birds are generally lovable and useful for nature ecosystem, some harmful evidences such as noise by crying, feces harm, bird strike accident, and carrier of West Nile , influenza and foot-and-mouth viruses are problem in human society.
I strongly recommend "By Crow" for your silent and healthy life without bird's harm.
